CLOSURE OF THE BACKHAUSEN COMPANY AS OF 30TH JUNE 2023
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our owner, CEO, creative figurehead, mother, and grandmother Dr. Louise Kiesling, who died on 9th December 2022.
Dr. Louise Kiesling took over the reins at Backhausen in 2014 with the ultimate goal of fostering textile craftsmanship in Austria. Dr. Kiesling’s vision for Backhausen was unique. A vision that she was able to express thanks to her extensive knowledge of textiles, her creative mindset and her numerous degrees and qualifications from internationally renowned educational institutions. Her footsteps are currently too big for any successor to step into successfully.
After careful analysis, we have come to the sad decision that Backhausen will cease its entire operations by 30th June 2023.
We will fulfil all outstanding orders agreed to with our business partners. New commissions and orders will be checked on a case-by-case basis to determine the extent to which they can be fulfilled to our quality standards with the resources available to us before closure date. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that we will not be able to provide our usual two-year guarantee in this phase and returned goods will not be accepted after 30th June 2023.
Backhausen would like to offer its long-term B2B partners and customers a special discount of 25% on the remaining stock of collection goods starting from Monday, 27th February 2023. We would like to offer customers that have bought collection books and hangers since 1st January 2022 a special discount of 50% on our remaining stock of collection products.
Unfortunately, we will only be able to take new orders up to and including 30th April 2023 because of the closure of our firm on 30th June 2023. All offers are only valid while stocks last.
In the case of complaints, all goods must be returned within seven days of receipt and the sales price will be refunded. Customers have no right to replacements or exchanges, and there are no guarantees on goods sold at discounted prices.

Backhausen's listed design archive will continue to be carefully looked after in the usual manner, irrespective of the company’s closure.
Backhausen DesignShop
Due to the exceptional demand, the sale in our DesignShop will be extended to 10th June 2023. Until that date, we will continue to sell our stock goods at 50 % reduced prices during the shop’s regular opening hours.
